On this site stood the house in which the poet Campbell lived, 1777 - 1844.

As well as being a poet, Campbell was also Rector of Glasgow University 1826-1829, where he had in turn also studied.The plaque is on a Category B listed building, designed by William Forest Salmon FRIBA, now in a state of dereliction.
