Former Kodak Factory. Thomas Baker became the first to produce photographic dry plates in Australia when he established the Austral Plate Company in 1884 at his home opposite this site. He and John Rouse formed Australian Kodak in 1908, then built this five storey concave brick factory in 1928 to house their expanding photographic business. It manufactured Kodak products - coated paper, X-ray film and film - until 1959. Collingwood Historical Society 2007.
