Former Yarra Falls Mills. Yarra Falls Spinning Co, later Yarra Falls Ltd, built its first mill for spinning wool yarn in Johnston St near the Yarra River in 1918. The company became a leader of Australia's textile industry. In 1922 a wool weaving mill was built at 80-110 Trenerry Cres and in 1928 the Austral Silk and Cotton Mills at 112 Trenerry Cres. The BYFAS silk mill, built in 1937, manufactured parachute silk during World War II. Collingwood Historical Society 2007.

Former Alma Wool Scouring Works. Wool scouring works were established in 1861 by Peter Nettleton, who also built his bluestone villa on this site. His fellmongery became a major local industry, with 3,000 sheepskins being processed weekly by 1870. The washing and soaking processes severely polluted the river. The basement arcades of the woolshed by the river bank are architecturally significant. The Alma Wool Scouring Company operated at the site from 1920 to 1980. Collingwood Historical Society 2007.

Former Kodak Factory. Thomas Baker became the first to produce photographic dry plates in Australia when he established the Austral Plate Company in 1884 at his home opposite this site. He and John Rouse formed Australian Kodak in 1908, then built this five storey concave brick factory in 1928 to house their expanding photographic business. It manufactured Kodak products - coated paper, X-ray film and film - until 1959. Collingwood Historical Society 2007.

4 Southampton Crescent, Abbotsford, VI, Australia

Former Denton Hat Mills is registered by Heritage Council Victoria. This former factory, built in stages from c.1888 to the 1940s, was Australia's first steam powered hat factory and a leading exporter of hats. Prominent architect William Pitt designed early 20th century additions to the complex. Collingwood Historical Society 2007.
