Ezen a Sz.JÁNOS evangélista tiszteletére szentelt templomot és mellette a kolostort a minorita szerzet emelte IV.BÉLA k.alatt 1269-ben. Ide temették 1301-ben III.Endrét utolsó királyunkat az Árpádok nemzetségéből. A török kor előtt az olaszok plébániája, a törökök alatt minden keresztény felekezetnek közös imaháza volt, mely az 1686-iki ostrom alatt annyira megrongáltatott, hogy csupán tornyának alsó része maradt épségben. A templom és a torony felső része a ferenciek számára az ostrom után épült fel. Itt koronáztatott I. FERENZ magyar királlyá 1792-ben.
English translation: "This church dedicated to the evangelist St. John and the monastery was erected by the Minorite monastery during BELA IV.1269. This is where the last king of Endre III was buried in 1301. Before the Turkish era, the Italian parish, under the Turks, was a common prayer house for all Christian denominations, which was so damaged during the siege of 1686 that only the lower part of its tower remained intact.
