Ayntamiento de Castro Urdiales. El primitivo ayuntamiento de castro-urdiales fue construido en el siglo XVI, por orden del Consejo Real de Castilla. Contemplaba las armas imperiales de Carlos V y los escudos de Castro-Urdiales. El edificio actual data del siglo XVIII, construido por Antonio Vega. De esta época son la hornacina de la Virgen de la Asunción, patrona de Castro-Urdiales, el balcón, los soportes de sillería y el escudo de armas de la villa, recuperado del ayuntamiento primitivo. Eladio Laredo realiza una gran reforma en el año 1908. De esta época son: la gran torre almenada de sillería, con el reloj. Se siguen conservando los escudos del siglo XVI. En la última modificación de 1974, se coloca en la fachada del mar el escudo de armas medieval trasladado de la casa nobiliar de la Matra propia de los Sierralta de Otañes. Castro-Urdiales abril 2007
