Bienes de Interés Cultural (BIC) Castro Urdiales Etapa barroca Los arcos de La Correría se edificaron a lo largo del s. XVII, de piedra y arenisca y con capiteles de placa lisa (calle Torre Vitoria n° 1 al 11), continuando con los del Ayuntamiento de piedra caliza y con capiteles moldurados. La parte superior de las edificaciones se modifica desde mediados del siglo XIX en clave de eclecticismo y se introducen galerías, como en el n° 21 con un elegante mirador neogótico en el primer piso. Por otra parte, el Ayuntamiento, en el que se funden dos lecturas de barroco: una austera para soportal y el primer piso, y otra ornamentada, del arquitecto Antonio Vega (1715) para las dos alturas restantes. El edificio fue reformado por Eladio Laredo (1908) enfatizando la monumentalidad del edificio hacia la plaza donde se abría con la introducción de un torreón almenado y las fachadas exteriores según un lenguaje ecléctico clasicista. En el interior sobresale la escalera imperial de dos brazos, la vidriera y el diseño de los interiores del salón de plenos y de los despachos de alcalde y secretario.

Baroque stage
The arches of La Correría were built throughout the 17th century, made of stone and sandstone and with smooth plaque capitals (Torre Vitoria street n° 1 to 11), continuing with those of the Limestone Town Hall and with moulded capitals. The upper part of the buildings has been modified since the mid-19th century in the key of eclecticism and galleries are introduced, as in n° 21 with an elegant neo-Gothic viewpoint on the first floor.
On the other hand, the Town Hall, in which two baroque readings merge: an austere one for the arcade and the first floor, and the other ornate, by the architect Antonio Vega (1715) for the remaining two heights.
The building was renovated by Eladio Laredo (1908) emphasizing the monumentality of the building towards the square where it opened with the introduction of a crenellated tower and the exterior facades according to an eclectic classical language. Inside, the two-armed imperial staircase, the stained glass window and the design of the interiors of the plenary hall and the offices of the mayor and secretary stand out.
