El Campo de las Moscas Este "campillo" se le conoce coloquialmente como el "campo de las moscas", ya que hasta mediados de Siglo XX había un potro de trabajo permanente para herrar el ganado, a caballos, burros y bueyes de tiro. Quizá como este "campillo" se usaba además como una parada de postas para que los animales comieran y descansaran a la sombra de los árboles, esto pudo propiciar una gran acumulación de excrementos lo que hizo que se llenase todo de moscas y provocase molestias a los vecinos, recibiendo coloquialmente este hecho el nombre del "campo de las moscas". Esta historia es recogida por Luciano Prada Iturbe (1926-2017) en uno de sus artículos publicados en la Ilustración de Castro, en Octubre de 2000, dentro del artículo Las calles de la ciudad (2). Actualmente esta zona de esparcimiento se la sigue conociendo en el barrio de Urdiales por "el campillo", debido a su pequeño tamaño con césped que le caracteriza, aunque antiguas familias que vivieron en esta zona siguen manteniendo el apodo del "campo de las moscas".

This “campillo” is colloquially known as the “field of flies”, since until the middle of the 20th century there was a permanent working foal to shoe cattle, horses, donkeys and draft oxen. Perhaps since this “campillo” was also used as a post stop for animals to eat and rest in the shade of trees, this could lead to a large accumulation of excrement which caused it to fill everything with flies and caused discomfort to the neighbors, colloquially receiving the name of the “field of flies”.
