Joseph Lister 1827-1912 Pioneer of antiseptic surgery lived here as a student
This plaque is an indirect replacement for a London County Council example erected in 1915 at No.12 Park Crescent which was lost during redevelopment work in 2018. Subsequent to the plaque having been re-erected in 1966 under the auspices of the Greater London Council - after it had gone missing following post-war rebuilding work - it was determined that the façades in Park Crescent were not John Nash's originals, but post WWII facsimiles, meaning the site was not eligible for a plaque under the London scheme rules.
