Margaret Tudor, King James I, and Joan Beaufort stone plaque

Within these grounds stood the Carthusian Monastery founded by King James I of Scotland in 1429. It was the only house belonging to this order in Scotland. In the precincts of the monastery were buried the royal founder, his queen Joan Beaufort and Margaret Tudor queen of King James IV.
