えんりょうかん あと 延遼館跡 延遼館は、イギリス王子が国賓として来日することを契機に、外国要人の迎賓館として明治2(1869)年5月に政府によって建てられました。明治12 (1879)年7月には、アメリカのグラント将軍(第18代アメリカ大統領)が、約2ヶ月滞在しました。 その後も、多くの国賓を迎え、鉄道開業式など国の行事の際にも使用されましたが、 明治22(1889)年12月、老朽化のために取り壊しが決定し、ほどなくしてその歴史に幕を閉じました。 延建館正面(宮内庁宮內公文書館藏)
English translation: "Site of Enryo-kan Enryo-kan was built in May 1869 by the national government of the time as a guest house for important visitors from foreign countries. It was also used for national events such as a ceremony to commemorate the opening of the railway. In December 1889, the decision was made to demolish the aging building, and the curtain was closed on its history shortly after."
