Edward Buxton

Edward North Buxton (1 September 1840 – 9 January 1924) was a British conservationist and Liberal Party politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1886. He was also an alpine climber, with significant first or second ascents in the 1860s, including the Aiguille de Bionnassay, Piz Palu and the first traverse of Lyskamm.

In this house 1840 - 1867 resided Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton and Edward North Buxton who took a prominent part in the preservation of Epping Forest for the use of the people The Women's section of the Borough of Leyton Ratepayers Association record their appreciation of that great service by this tablet. Erected August 19th 1930.
