W. G. Grace (1848-1915) cricketer lived here
Originally erected by the London County Council at 7 Lawrie Park Road Sydenham in 1963, that house was demolished the following year. The plaque was salvaged and installed at 'Fairmount', Mottingham Lane, in the London Borough of Bromley by the Greater London Council in 1966. This makes it a curiosity - a London County Council plaque placed beyond the geographical boundary of that organisation; the London Borough of Bromley only coming into being, as one of the new outer London boroughs, on 1st April 1965. A modern London Borough of Lewisham plaque now marks the original site.
