Sardar Vallabhbhai Javerbhai Patel 1875-1950 Indian statesman lived here
A plaque to Patel was erected in 1986 by the Greater London Council in response to a proposal by the MP Greville Janner. It was subsequently damaged during building work and replaced with this one - thereplica, still bearing the name of the GLC - in 1991
by administered by English Heritage as part of the London wide plaque scheme and English Heritage in 1991
