Benjamin Waugh 1839-1908 founder of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children lived here
Subsequent to installation, it has been learned that the GLC, failing to take into account street renumbering, placed the memorial to Waugh on the wrong building. The No.26 Croom's Hill in which Waugh resided is now No.62. The No.26 to which the plaque is affixed was, at the time Waugh was a resident of Crooms Hill, No.13.
