Sky's first high definition broadcast was inaugurated here 22 Frith Street W1 Westminster November 2005

The plaque is on an interior wall of the Bar Italia café. A London County Council plaque on the exterior of 22 Frith Street records that "In this house John Logie Baird 1888-1946 first demonstrated television", an historic connection which must not have escaped the sponsors of the Sky televison event commemorated by the newer plaque in 2005. The LCC plaque was erected in 1951. Bar Italia, in its current form, has occupied the building since 1949.
