The Birmingham Civic Society has erected a Blue Plaque in celebration of 200th anniversary of the birth of Alfred Bird, a chemist most famous for inventing custard powder. It was unveiled on Thursday 22 September in the Atrium in Zellig at the Custard Factory by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Anita Ward and Chairman of the Birmingham civic Society, David Clarke. It’s permanent location, to which it will transfer shortly, will be the outer wall of the original buildings in Gibb Street. see Birmingham Civic Society web site
