Thomas Telford 1757-1834. First President of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Born at Glendinning, Westerkirk, Langholm. A pioneering Civil Engineer whose lasting legacy of roads, bridges, canals and buildings constructed throughout his extensive career ensures his place in the history of the industrial revolution.
