Sir Charles Barry 1795-1860 architect lived and died here
The LCC experimented a little with the blue roundel design in the late 40s and early 50s. This example has the council's initials in place of the usual full name, an attribute it shares with Nathaniel Hawthorn's plaque in Blackheath.
