Nathaniel Hawthorne 1804-1864 American author stayed here in 1856
The LCC experimented a little with the blue roundel design in the late 40s and early 50s. This example has the council's initials in place of the usual full name, an attribute it shares with Charles Barry's plaque in Clapham.
