Joseph Whitaker 1820-1895 publisher, founder of Whitaker's Almanack lived and died here
The weatherboarded exterior of the house necessitated the use of an alternative to the standard ceramic roundel, in this case enamelled steel - employed on a number of occasions by the Greater London Council and London County Council before it but rarely by English Heritage (Shelley seems to be the only other EH example). Those planning to visit the plaque should be aware that there are two Silver Streets in the London Borough of Enfield.
