Sir Edward Elgar composer 1857-1934 opened and recorded in these studios on 12th November 1931

You might have expected a pop star to have adorned the walls of Abbey Road. Perhaps The Beatles. But it was Elgar who opened the studios in 1931 and gets the honour. There are plenty of bands on Open Plaques if you prefer. Also, Elgar is on one our favourite plaques about a bulldog falling in a river
